Outlast\xAC technology, originally developed for NASA, utilizes phase change materials (PCM) that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort. Outlast\xAC technology is comparable to ice in a drink; as it changes from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and cools the drink, keeping that drink at the desired temperature for longer. Outlast\xAC phase change materials work in the same way, but are microencapsulated to be permanently enclosed and protected in a polymer shell. We call microencapsulated phase change materials Thermocules\xBB.
This encapsulation process makes the Thermocules\xBB exceptionally durable for many applications. These Thermocules\xBB can be incorporated into fabrics and fibers and have the capacity to absorb, store and release excess heat. This gives any product containing Outlast\xAC technology the ability to continually regulate skin\xCDs microclimate. As the skin gets hot, the heat is absorbed, and as it cools, that heat is released.
Outlast\xAC technology is not wicking technology, which manages moisture by reacting to your sweat and pulling it away from the skin. Outlast\xAC technology will proactively manage heat while controlling the production of moisture before it begins. That\xCDs the Outlast\xAC difference.

Better than everything else I have tried
February 15, 2020
Went from a waterbed to a memory foam bed, after 35 years. (Had a cat that was obsessed with plying with it, and it did not end well for the liner.). With the memory foam mattress, I wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat; has no idea they trapped that much of your body heat.
While it hasn't totally solved the problem it is much better than anything else I have tried (toppers, sheets, quilts). It also has a bit of a texture to it so I can move around easier. With memory foam it is very hard to make minor adjustments as you sleep, you're sort of just stuck there.
Another plus is that it is expertly and sensibly made: the elastic is full and sturdy and hugs to all sides of the bed and keeps it in place. None of the others stayed in place like this one does. This one has the outlast label sewn into it. Some other companies said they were using the Outlast material, but I was not convinced they really were.
